Chris Trakel was born in Boise, Idaho, and graduated from Meridian High School in 2000. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 2001 to 2016, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. After his military career, Trakel moved to Caldwell, Idaho, where he founded a woodworking business. A Republican, he previously served one term in the Idaho State Senate for District 11 from 2022 to 2024. He is now a candidate for Idaho State Senate District 11 in the 2026 election, advocating for fiscal transparency, reducing wasteful government spending, and implementing strategies to lower the tax burden on families and businesses to keep the district affordable.
