What does Christine Maltese support?

I'm Christine, a Democratic candidate for Wisconsin's 72nd Assembly District in the November 3, 2026 election.

My professional background is in technology and systems engineering, where I've spent my career solving problems, understanding complex systems, and working with people to find practical solutions. That experience has shaped how I approach challenges: ask questions, listen carefully, understand what's working and what isn't, and look for ways to make things better.

I decided to run for the Wisconsin State Assembly because I wanted to become more involved in the decisions that affect our communities and the people who call them home.

Throughout this campaign, one of the most meaningful experiences has been meeting people across the district, listening to their stories, and learning about the challenges they face. These conversations have reinforced my belief that public service begins with listening.

Where does Christine Maltese stand on the issues?

Christine Maltese has a recorded position on 44 issues. Each is Christine Maltese's own wording, written on their Civoren profile.

  • Affordable Housing

    Supports

Affordable housing is important to families, young adults, seniors, and the workforce that keeps our communities running. Rural communities face their own challenges with housing availability, construction costs, and aging properties. I believe solutions should consider local needs, responsible development, and the long-term financial impact on residents and taxpayers.

  • Agriculture

    Supports

Agriculture is an important part of Wisconsin's rural economy and identity. Farmers face challenges involving operating costs, changing markets, land use, and access to the resources needed to sustain their operations. I believe agricultural policy should be informed by the people working the land and by an understanding of how decisions affect family farms and rural communities.

  • AI & Technology Policy

    Mixed

My technology background has shown me the benefits of innovation, but also the risks of implementing systems without understanding their consequences. I support responsible artificial intelligence development while recognizing concerns about privacy, security, inaccurate information, workforce displacement, and accountability. I believe government should carefully evaluate AI use and establish appropriate safeguards without unnecessarily restricting beneficial innovation.

  • AI Safety & Regulation

    Supports

I recognize the tremendous potential of artificial intelligence to improve our lives, strengthen businesses, and create new opportunities. However, I also understand that technology introduced without proper safeguards can create serious and sometimes unintended consequences. I support clear, practical, and enforceable regulations that address data privacy, cybersecurity, algorithmic bias, misinformation, and the responsible use of AI in decisions that affect people's lives. Companies developing and deploying AI should be accountable for how their systems operate, how personal information is used, and how potential risks are addressed. I believe innovation and regulation can coexist. The goal should not be to prevent technological progress, but to ensure that AI is developed and used responsibly, transparently, and with appropriate human oversight. As technology continues to evolve, our safeguards must evolve with it.

  • Antitrust & Big Tech Monopolies

    Supports

I believe the concentration of power among a handful of large technology corporations has contributed to many of the challenges we face today. I have witnessed how quickly innovation can change our lives, but I also recognize the risks when too much market power rests in too few hands. I support stronger antitrust enforcement, fair competition, and greater accountability for corporations that use their market dominance to limit consumer choice, disadvantage smaller businesses, or restrict competition. My concerns go beyond technology. When corporations become powerful enough to influence markets, public policy, and the information people receive, we need to question whether existing safeguards are sufficient. I believe innovation should create opportunities for everyone, not simply strengthen the dominance of companies already controlling the marketplace. Antitrust laws must be enforced fairly and consistently, regardless of the corporation or political party involved.

  • Bipartisanship & Civility

    Supports

I believe people can disagree on important issues without treating one another as enemies. Meaningful progress requires listening, asking questions, and being willing to consider ideas from different perspectives. I value respectful discussion and believe public officials should focus on understanding problems and finding workable solutions rather than creating unnecessary division.
