He has served as Mayor from 2016-2017 and was elected again in 2024. Roberts graduated from Willamette University and earned a PhD in public law from the University of Washington. He teaches political science at several Washington community colleges and previously served as a Legislative Assistant in the Oregon Legislature. He is an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and resides in the Ballinger neighborhood with his family.
