Chynah Tyler was born and raised in Boston (Roxbury). She attended Boston Public and Charter schools and was accepted into the Crimson Summer Academy at Harvard University, then earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Law, Policy, and Society from Northeastern University. She began her career as a case manager for federal inmates and later served as a legislative aide in the Massachusetts State Senate. In 2016, at age 26, she was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the 7th Suffolk District and is serving her fifth term; she is Vice-Chair of the State Administration and Regulatory Oversight Joint Committee and a past chair of the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus and the Boston Delegation.
