Claire Sumadiwirya was appointed to the City Council in April 2025. She has lived in Bellevue for over 30 years and is a small business owner downtown. In 2017, she founded Bellden Café, a mission-driven cafe that has contributed to over 30 charities. Her prior experience spans finance, marketing, real estate, and media. She holds an MBA in accounting and finance from Seattle University and bachelor's degrees from the University of Washington. She serves on several boards, including the Bellevue School Foundation and Overlake Medical Center Foundation.
