Claire Valdez is a union organizer, artist, and democratic socialist serving as a member of the New York State Assembly representing the 37th District since 2025. Originally from Lubbock, Texas, and a dual citizen of the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Nation and the U.S., she moved to New York City in 2015. She previously worked at Columbia University and organized with United Auto Workers Local 2110. In early 2026, she announced her campaign for New York's 7th Congressional District.
