Clarence Lam

Clarence Lam is a Democratic politician and physician serving as the Maryland State Senator for District 12, which encompasses parts of Howard and Anne Arundel counties. First elected to the Senate in 2018, he previously served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2015 to 2019. A native of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Lam earned his bachelor's degree from Case Western Reserve University before obtaining a medical degree from the University of Maryland and a master's in public health from Johns Hopkins University. Concurrently with his legislative duties, he works as a preventive medicine physician at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Lam ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2024 but was defeated in the Democratic primary.
