Claudia Balducci earned a Bachelor of Arts from Providence College and a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School. Her early career included working at the Northwest Women's Law Center (now Legal Voice), where she advocated for women's and LGBTQ+ rights, and as a labor lawyer. She was first elected to the Bellevue City Council in 2004 and served as Mayor of Bellevue in 2014. She also served as the Director of the Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention for King County. In 2015, she was elected to the King County Council to represent District 6 and was elected Chair of the council in 2020.
