A Republican, he is an Army veteran who previously worked as a patrol officer, SWAT operator, and Deputy Marshal for the City of Lafayette. In Congress, Higgins serves as a senior member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and as Chairman of the Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee.
