Clifford Shaw is a lifelong resident of Pasquotank County and the current Vice-Chairman of the Pasquotank County Board of Commissioners for the Southern Inside district, with a term set to expire in December 2028. He was appointed to the board in 2023. Prior to his election, he was a sheriff's deputy and also retired after 30 years working for the state's Department of Corrections. Shaw also operates his own lawn service company.
