Cody Huneycutt is a lifelong resident of Stanly County and a cattle farmer. He earned an Associate of Arts degree from Stanly Community College and a bachelor's degree in history and political science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Prior to his election, he served as a professional staffer at the North Carolina General Assembly for over five years, working for the incumbent he succeeded, Wayne Sasser. He was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives for District 67 in the general election on November 5, 2024, and assumed office on January 1, 2025.
