Crystal Carpenter is a Democratic candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates, District 24. She serves as the Chief Program and Strategy Officer for the Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth, which she joined in April 2019. In her role, she develops resources to support individuals released from prison and educates stakeholders on challenges faced by formerly incarcerated people. An advocate for criminal justice reform, Carpenter has testified before the Maryland General Assembly on youth sentencing reform. She is also Co-Chair for the Prince George's County Lynching Memorial Project, where she develops educational materials on the county's history of racial terror lynchings. She is an alumna of the University of North Carolina.
