Dan Griffey is the incumbent State Representative for Washington’s 35th District, representing Mason, Kitsap, and Thurston counties. He serves as Republican Whip and is Assistant Ranking Member on the Community Safety Committee, also sitting on Local Government and Transportation committees. A lifelong Allyn resident, Griffey retired in 2022 after a 30-year career as a professional firefighter, having started as a volunteer and EMT at 16. His legislative priorities include strengthening public safety, advocating for sexual assault and domestic violence survivors, and supporting law enforcement. He actively addresses the drug crisis by expanding treatment, streamlining the Involuntary Treatment Act, and increasing detox bed capacity. Griffey also advocates for private lab DUI testing to reduce backlogs and opposes job-killing fee increases. Committed to real solutions, he aims to improve lives in his district. He and his wife, Dinah, have four children and five grandchildren.
