Dan Lewis is the incumbent for Albuquerque City Council District 5, first elected in 2009 and re-elected in 2013. After a break from public service, he was elected again in 2021. He has served as City Council President three times. His professional background includes being the President of Desert Fuels, Inc., founder of Refined Fuels Transport, and Director of Operations at Davidson Energy. In January 2024, he was appointed Executive Director of the Asphalt Pavement Association of New Mexico. He was also the founding pastor of Soul Rio Community Church.
