He earned a BS in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning from the University of California and a Masters in Recreation Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. His local involvement includes co-leading a Girl Scout Troop, volunteering at Rock Creek Elementary, and serving on the Maple Valley Planning Commission, which he chaired before being elected to the council in 2015.
