Dana Ralph is the incumbent and 27th Mayor of Kent, serving as the city's Chief Executive Officer since she was first elected in 2017. A fourth-generation Kent resident, she is a graduate of Kent-Meridian High School. Her career in public service began with volunteering on the City of Kent's Land Use and Planning Board. She was later elected to the Kent City Council in 2011, where she served until 2017, including two years as Council President. As mayor, she oversees a biennial budget of over $884 million and more than 730 city employees. She was re-elected for her second term in 2021 with 71% of the vote.
