Daniel J. Deasy Jr. was first elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2008, representing District 27. A Democrat, he previously worked as a supervisor for the Pittsburgh Department of Public Works and served for four years on the Pittsburgh City Council. Deasy attended Bishop Canevin High School and the University of Pittsburgh. In the House, he has served as the Democratic chairman of the Liquor Control Committee. He resides in the Westwood neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
