Daniel J. Sullivan Jr.

Dan Sullivan is a retired elementary school teacher and longtime resident of Petersburg, Alaska, who moved to the state in 1980. Born in the Midwest and raised in the Chicago area, he grew up in a large Catholic family as the second oldest of six children. He spent decades working blue-collar jobs in logging, construction, steel mills, teaching, bartending, and forestry, and spent 15 years with the U.S. Forest Service in surveying, timber management, and timber sale administration. He later returned to school, earned a degree in education, and began a second career as a fifth-grade teacher. A cancer survivor, he describes himself as a "pragmatic Republican centrist." He was a longtime member of the Alaska Independence Party until it dissolved in late 2025, after which he registered as a Republican.
