Darrell Frye is a lifelong resident of Randolph County and has served on the Board of Commissioners since November 1982, making him one of North Carolina's longest-tenured elected officials. He has consistently held the position of either chair or vice chair throughout his tenure. In addition to his local role, Frye has been active on regional and state boards, including the NC Board of County Commissioners, where he served as president in 1990. He has also been involved with the Piedmont Triad Regional Council since 1982 and is a founding member of the Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority.
