Darrell Lee Powell is a non-partisan candidate running for Mayor in the City of Cumberland, Maryland, in the 2026 election. Born and raised in Cumberland, Powell has deep ties to the local community. He is a 1978 graduate of Fort Hill High School and went on to earn his degree from Frostburg State University, graduating in 1983. Before seeking public office, Powell built a career in journalism as a television news reporter, most notably working for WHAG-NBC 25 Television. As he campaigns for the mayoral seat, Powell brings his lifelong knowledge of Cumberland and his professional communication experience to his vision for leading the city's future.
