Daryl Mason

Richmond County Board of Education in Rockingham, North Carolina

Daryl Mason, born in Florida in 1962, is a long-time educator and public servant in Richmond County. He graduated from Fayetteville State University in 1985 after studying physical education and playing football. His career in education began at Hamlet Junior High in 1985. Over the years, he has served in various roles, including teacher, coach, Assistant Principal at Rockingham Junior High, Principal at the former Leak Street High School, and Associate Principal at Richmond Senior High School before retiring from Richmond County Schools in 2016. He has since continued his work in education as a teacher, athletic director, and head football coach at Blenheim Middle School of Discovery. In addition to his educational career, Mason was appointed to the Richmond County Board of Commissioners in 2014 and was elected to the Richmond County Board of Education in 2018. He is also a founding member of the HIP (Helping Improve Potential) organization for male youth.
