David J. "Dave" Caporale is a Republican politician serving as the President of the Allegany County Board of Commissioners in Maryland. A Cumberland native, Caporale was first elected as an Allegany County Commissioner in 2018 and secured re-election in 2022. Before joining the commission, he served on the Cumberland City Council from 2013 to 2018. Outside of public office, he is a small business owner who operates Caporale's Bakery, a historic family enterprise in Cumberland founded in 1906. He holds a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Frostburg State University. Caporale and his wife, Melissa, live in Cumberland and are the proud parents of two children.
