David Burnette is a resident of Haywood County and is from Canton, North Carolina. He attended Pisgah High School and Haywood Community College. He has a deep interest in traditional Appalachian skills and has taught blacksmithing at Haywood County Community College. Burnette has also been involved in the community by volunteering as the president of the Pisgah High School boosters club and coaching for local little leagues. He was appointed to the Haywood County Board of Education in 2017 and is serving his first full term.
