David Eugene Lucas

David Lucas currently serves as a Georgia State Senator for District 26, where he has been a sworn member since January 14, 2013. A Democrat, he previously served in the Georgia House of Representatives, having been sworn in in January 1975. He is self-employed and is married to Elaine. As a legislator, he holds key positions on several committees, including Appropriations (Ex-Officio), Health and Human Services, Insurance and Labor, Regulated Industries and Utilities, and Transportation, and serves as Secretary of the Urban Affairs Committee. Senator Lucas has sponsored legislation such as the "Putting Georgia's Patients First Act" and resolutions honoring legislative networks and providing fee waivers for military members. He is a candidate for reelection in the 2026 Georgia Primary Election.
