David Johnstone was appointed to the Yelm City Council's Position No. 6 seat in May 2025, following the resignation of the previous councilor. He has been a Yelm resident for nearly a decade and previously served on the city's Planning Commission. Johnstone became involved in local government after becoming a homeowner and parent in Yelm, starting with his local HOA.
