Deborah Horowitz was appointed as a Judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County by Governor Gavin Newsom in July 2023. Prior to her appointment, she served as a deputy public defender in Los Angeles County from 1994 to 2023. Her legal career also includes work as an associate and law clerk for the Law Offices of Horngrad & Wachtel from 1991 to 1993. She earned her law degree from UC Hastings College of the Law (now UC Law San Francisco) in 1991. Her father is the retired Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David A. Horowitz.
