Debra Strawhun is a career educator who has worked as a speech/language pathologist (SLP) in public schools since the early 1980s. She moved to Poulsbo in 1997 and has worked in the North Kitsap and Bremerton School Districts. Though she retired in 2021, she continues to work as a contractor due to a shortage of SLPs. Her experience includes being a teacher on special assignment (TOSA) as an early childhood coordinator, overseeing special education preschool programs, and ensuring compliance with special education laws. Her three sons graduated from North Kitsap High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Sonoma State University, a Master of Science in Communication Sciences from Arizona State University, and a Program Administrator Credential from Central Washington University.
