Deena Hayes-Greene

Deena Hayes-Greene is the incumbent for District 8 on the Guilford County Board of Education, currently serving as the board's Chair. She was first elected to the board in 2002. Hayes-Greene is also the Co-Founder and Managing Director of the Racial Equity Institute (REI), where she works as a trainer and consultant focusing on the impacts of systemic racism. Her work has spanned various sectors, including social services, public health, and the judicial system. She has served as a Human Relations Commissioner for the City of Greensboro and is the board chair for the International Civil Rights Center & Museum. She graduated from Guilford College with a major in African-American Studies and Community & Justice Studies.
