Deni Taveras is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 47B since assuming office in 2023. Before her election to the state legislature, she served on the Prince George's County Council from 2014 to 2022, becoming the first Latina elected to the council. Born in New York City, Taveras holds an extensive academic background with a B.A. in chemistry from Barnard College, an M.S. in chemistry from the University of Utah, and a Master of Public Administration from Princeton University. Her professional experience prior to elected office includes roles as a policy analyst and as a chief of staff for a state senator. Her legislative focus has consistently included social justice issues and support for working families.
