Derek K. Hopkins, a Republican, has served as the Harford County Register of Wills since he was sworn into office on November 30, 2010. A lifelong resident of Harford County, his family has lived in the area for generations. Before his election, Hopkins worked as an auctioneer, estate appraiser, and a third-generation real estate agent with a focus on estate services. He is a graduate of North Harford High School and attended Virginia Tech. Hopkins is also a graduate of the Missouri Auction School and the Certified Auctioneer Institute at Indiana University. An active member of his community, he has volunteered with the Darlington and Whiteford Volunteer Fire Companies.
