Derek O Thompson has been a resident of Vancouver for 13 years. He began his career in the city as a cosmetologist. In 2013, he founded HANDS of Favor, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free haircuts and grooming services to the homeless and underserved communities. Through this work, he built partnerships with 24 organizations across four counties. Thompson states that this experience gave him a deep, first-hand understanding of the challenges facing the community.
