Derica Escamilla is a first-generation Mexican American born in Moses Lake, Washington. She graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Resource and Environmental Studies. Escamilla has lived in Lynnwood since around 2008 and has served on several city boards and committees, including the Economic Development Advisory Board. She was appointed to the City Council in 2024. Her professional career includes roles in construction, education, and environmental organizations, and she is a business development manager for an engineering services provider.
