Dominique Emerson was first appointed to the Langley City Council in January 2016. Before her time on the council, she served on the city's Planning Advisory Board starting in 2012 and was also involved with the shoreline advisory committee. Her professional background includes 17 years in the computer engineering industry, where she ran a consulting company, followed by a career in landscaping as the owner of Custom Landscape Solutions. She has also held leadership roles in several community organizations, including president of the Whidbey Animals' Improvement Foundation (WAIF) and the Whidbey Island Garden Tour.
