Doretta Walker is a candidate for North Carolina District Court Judge District 16 Seat 02 in Durham, North Carolina — 2026 Primary Election. Running as Democratic Party.

Doretta Walker is an incumbent District Court Judge in Durham County, first elected in 2010. A Durham native, she graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Criminal Justice and Psychology in 1990, and earned her Juris Doctor degree from the UNC School of Law in 1993. Her legal career began at Carolina Legal Assistance, followed by three years as a Judicial Clerk at the North Carolina Court of Appeals. From 1997 to 2010, she served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Durham District Attorney's Office. As a judge, she presides over a wide range of cases including family, juvenile, civil, criminal, and domestic violence courts. She is notably the presiding judge in Durham County's Mental Health Court and one of two judges for the Abuse, Neglect and Dependency Court. She has also been an adjunct instructor at Durham Technical Community College.
