Douglas Fischer has been a journalist for 30 years and is the executive director of Environmental Health Sciences, a nonprofit news and science service. He holds a bachelor's degree from Columbia University (1992). Fischer has lived in Bozeman since 2010 and previously served as a Schools Trustee from 2015 to 2023. He is also an adjunct professor at Montana State University and an appointed member of the Bozeman City Commission. His wife, Stephanie Ewing, is a professor at Montana State University, and her grandfather was a past president of the university.
