Elaine Haney is a longtime public servant from Essex Junction, Vermont. She served as an Essex Junction city councilor and earlier represented the Village of Essex Junction on the Town of Essex Selectboard; she also served as a planning commissioner, library board member and village trustee, and helped found the local farmers' market. Haney spent more than four years as executive director of Emerge Vermont, the organization that trains Democratic women to run for office, and previously worked for the Vermont Agency of Commerce. She was a central figure in the debate over merging Essex and Essex Junction and advocated for Essex Junction's 2022 separation as an independent city.
