Eleanor Chavez

Eleanor Chavez is a Democratic State Representative for New Mexico House District 26, serving Albuquerque's Westside, where she raised her children. A dedicated union organizer for over 40 years, she champions the rights of women, workers, children, and educators. As an incumbent, her priorities include safeguarding neighborhoods, ensuring high-quality public education, and reducing healthcare costs by challenging Big Pharma and insurance companies. She also advocates for comprehensive approaches to reduce crime and homelessness, accelerate the transition to sustainable energy, and protect water supplies. Chavez has served as State Representative from 2009-2012 and since 2023.
