Ellen M. Shelley

Ellen Shelley was appointed as a District Court Judge in May 2019 and was re-elected in 2022. Prior to her appointment, she was the managing partner at the law firm Evans & Shelley, PA, where her practice focused on litigation. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina and her law degree from the Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama. Shelley lives in Marion with her husband. Her community involvement includes serving with the McDowell County Bar Association and on the Board of Directors for the McDowell Technical Community College Foundation.
