Eloy Brazil is a graduate of Cimarron High School. He began his career as the head boys' varsity basketball coach at his alma mater in 1976. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he has coached at Cimarron, Springer, and Maxwell high schools. Brazil has led his teams to multiple state championships, including Cimarron's first in 1979, two with Springer in 2002 and 2004, and Maxwell's first-ever state title in 2017. He was named the 2017 National Coach of the Year by the National Federation of High School Coaches Association. In January 2025, he achieved his 700th career win.
