Eloy Brazil is a long-time resident of Cimarron and a graduate of Cimarron High School. He has had an extensive career as a high school basketball coach for over 40 years in northern New Mexico, leading teams at Cimarron, Maxwell, and Springer high schools. He has coached both boys' and girls' teams and has led his teams to multiple state championships. In 2017, he was named the National Coach of the Year by the National Federation of High School Coaches Association. As of early 2025, he achieved his 700th career win. He began his coaching career in 1976 at the age of 21.
