Erik Bottcher is the New York State Senator for District 47, assuming office in February 2026 after winning a special election. He previously served as a member of the New York City Council representing District 3 from 2022 to 2026. Bottcher began his career in public service as an LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS Community Liaison for the City Council and the governor's office. He filed to run for the U.S. House in New York's 12th District but withdrew in late 2025 to run for the State Senate.
