Erik Paulsen is the incumbent for Vancouver City Council, Position 2, and currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem. He has lived in Vancouver for over 40 years and has a background in financial services. Before being appointed to the council in January 2019, he was a member of the Vancouver Planning Commission for eight years, serving as chair for six of those years. He was also a member of the city's Affordable Housing Task Force. Paulsen is a graduate of Hudson's Bay High School and holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Portland State University and an MBA from Washington State University.
