Ervin Bateman

Ervin Bateman is a 6th generation resident of Kitty Hawk and has over three decades of public service experience. Prior to being elected to the Dare County Board of Commissioners in 2018, he served on the Kitty Hawk Town Council and the Kitty Hawk Planning Board. Bateman has been in the restaurant business since 1990 and is the owner of Sugar Creek Restaurant in Nags Head. He is a co-founder of the Outer Banks Relief Foundation, which assists residents facing debilitating disease or crisis, and a co-founder of Outer Banks Sporting Events, which created the Outer Banks Marathon. He was first elected to the board as a Democrat in 2018 and changed his party affiliation to Republican in 2021.
