Ethelda Burke has a career in public education spanning over 40 years, with roles including teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, deputy superintendent, and superintendent of the Tukwila School District. A 40-year resident of University Place, she was appointed to the school board in January 2015 and was first elected in November 2017. Burke has also served on the boards for the State Higher Education Coordinating, Tacoma Youth Symphony, United Way, and the Key Bank Advisory. She is also involved with the NAACP and the Tacoma Urban League.
