Eunisses Hernandez is a community organizer and the incumbent Los Angeles City Councilmember for District 1, having assumed office in December 2022. Born and raised in Highland Park, she co-founded La Defensx and co-chaired L.A. County Measure J to advocate for alternatives to incarceration. On the council, she chairs the Public Works Committee and focuses on tenant protections, unarmed crisis response, and affordable housing.
