Franklin Gomez Flores

CHATHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS DISTRICT 05 in Siler City, North Carolina

Franklin Gomez Flores was born in Guatemala and moved to Siler City, North Carolina, with his family in 1999 at the age of five. He is a graduate of Jordan-Matthews High School and earned a bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2020, at age 26, he became the first Latino and the youngest person to be elected to the Chatham County Board of Commissioners. Prior to his election, he served on Chatham County's Planning Board, volunteered with the Scholars' Latino Initiative, and was an assistant coach for the Los Jets soccer team. He also helps with his family's business in affordable housing.
