Fred Obee is a veteran journalist with a 40-year career in the Pacific Northwest. He spent 20 years at the Port Townsend Leader as a reporter and later as general manager. He left The Leader in 2015 to become the executive director of the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association, a position from which he retired in 2024. He holds a bachelor's degree from Western Washington University (1982) and graduated from Bowling Green High School. Obee previously sought an appointment to a vacant city council seat in July 2024.
