Gail Pellerin is the incumbent California State Assemblymember for District 28, assuming office in December 2022. She currently serves as Chair of the Assembly Elections Committee and the Select Committee on California's Mental Health Crisis. Before her election to the Assembly, Pellerin spent over 27 years in the Santa Cruz County elections department, serving as the Santa Cruz County Clerk from 2004 until her retirement in 2020. She earned a B.S. in journalism from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
