Garland E. Pierce has been a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives since 2005. He was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on July 9, 1953, and currently resides in Wagram. Pierce served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1974. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Fayetteville State University and a Master of Divinity from Shaw Divinity School. In addition to his legislative duties, he is a Baptist minister and the Pastor of Bright Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Laurinburg. He is retired from United Parcel Service (UPS). He has held several leadership positions in the legislature, including Democratic Whip and Democratic Conference Chair.
