Gary Hunter is a Democratic candidate for the Michigan State Senate, representing District 3. A Detroit native, he graduated from Central High School in 1978 and holds an associate degree in public and health services. Hunter has been active as a precinct delegate and a community leader advocating against blight in the Brightmoor neighborhood. He previously ran for the Detroit City Council in 2025 and the Wayne County Commission in 2022.
